We’re looking for a highly motivated BD Manager who will be responsible for driving sales and business growth by developing and implementing strategic initiatives to expand our market presence and drive revenue growth.

This role will be in charge with identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, responding to requests for information/proposals/tenders, and consistently delivering compelling proposals and presentations that inspire confidence and drive client engagement. The BD Manager will also lead market research efforts, monitor industry trends, and track competition to identify potential business opportunities and drive continued expansion among existing clients.

Responsibilities

Your day-to-day duties will include:

Sales and Business Growth

  • Develop and maintain strategies, systems, and work practices to ensure DBSA achieves business growth in the local market in accordance with the company's business plan
  • Respond to requests for information/proposals/tenders in a timely and effective manner
  • Produce well-researched, innovative, and compelling proposals and presentations to inspire confidence and drive client engagement
  • Maintain a rolling 12- to 18-month portfolio of qualified new business activities to ensure budget growth targets are met or exceeded

Market Research

  • Monitor market trends and track competition to identify potential business opportunities and provide recommendations for changes as needed

Lead Generation

  • Utilize various lead generation methods, including telesales, client visits, email, and social media to meet or exceed established revenue goals

Relationship Management

  • Develop a concise relationship structure and communications strategy for each client based on current value and growth potential
  • Establish a development plan with qualified growth targets and time frames for all clients

Contract Management

  • Ensure all rates presented to clients are approved by the accounting manager and country director
  • Establish contracts with new clients and negotiate contract variations for new initiatives
  • Ensure contracts comply with legal requirements, minimize commercial risk, and support operational efficiency objectives
  • Successfully renew, extend, or vary existing client contracts
  • Provide timely information to the billing and administration team to maintain accurate registers of contracts and billing arrangements

 

Required Skills, Qualifications & Attributes

To be successful in this role, the ideal applicant will possess the following attributes and qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in business development, sales, or a related field, with a proven track record of driving revenue growth
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas and solutions effectively
  • Excellent negotiation and relationship management skills, with a focus on building long-term client partnerships
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and implement innovative sales and business growth strategies
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
